First Class Ticket: Honor 20 Smartphone Review

First Class Ticket: Honor 20 Smartphone Review

Despite the difficulties on the political front, Huawei introduced two versions of the flagship of its subsidiary brand. Consider the youngest, Honor 20, and see why she needs five cameras and whether the smartphone can compete in price and performance with the flagships of other companies.

The smartphone turned out to be a little thick, but comfortably lying in the hand. All buttons are located on the right side, USB-C, a microphone and speaker on the bottom, a slot for two SIM cards on the left, a proximity sensor (yes, it looks like an infrared port) and a noise canceling microphone on top. Almost at the very end above the front panel there is a light sensor, an event indicator and a speaker under a metal mesh.

Note that the power key combines with a fairly quick-acting fingerprint sensor. Tactile, it is clearly distinguishable due to the deepening. The double volume control button, on the contrary, extends outside the case and is conveniently pressed. The back panel is covered with glass - variously glare in the light. Oleophobic coating is on both sides and fingerprints will remain less. The background color can be black or blue. By the way, in Ukraine, the Honor 20 smartphone will begin to be sold on August 1. What is more interesting is the used camera module with three lenses with a flash and another, additional module on the side. It extends beyond the enclosure, so a complete case will come in handy. Still, practice shows that the lens glass is prone to scratches.

The sensors of the main 48-megapixel and wide-angle 16 megapixel cameras of the Honor 20 Pro and Honor 20 presented earlier this year are identical. But compared to the Honor 20, the Honor 20 Pro's main camera lens has a higher aperture. Additionally, there is an 8-megapixel tele-camera, and a special 4-axis stabilization system has been added (works with the main 48-megapixel camera and 8-megapixel tele-camera). The f / 1.4 aperture of the main camera of the Honor 20 Pro is currently the record among smartphones in the world. But Honor 20 also has a very decent value - f / 1.8. The large sensor, combined with high aperture and technology combining up to 16 frames into the final image, made it possible to realize a well-functioning night shooting mode. The main module received a phase focusing system.

The wide-angle camera has a matrix size of 16 megapixels at f / 2.2 and a viewing angle of 117 °. The distance tracking module is 2 megapixels in size. The module responsible for macro photography is also small - 2 megapixels at f / 2.4 and a focal length of only 4 cm.

We can say that the pictures are obtained with the correct saturation and color reproduction, unless you sometimes want to make them “warmer”, but photo editing editors will help. Detailing objects and highlights requires maximum immobility of the device. The fact is that in pictures of objects with a large number of details, blurred zones can sometimes be detected. Apparently, sometimes this happens due to the aggressive operation of the algorithms. But for shooting food with hashtags and interesting sights, the camera is more than suitable.
